Allen Leech (born May 18, 1981) is an Irish actor. He is famous for playing Tom Branson in the popular TV show Downton Abbey. He also played Paul Prenter in the movie Bohemian Rhapsody, which tells the story of the band Queen.
Leech started his acting career in a play called A Streetcar Named Desire in 1998. His first big movie role was in Cowboys & Angels in 2003. He also played the Roman soldier Marcus Agrippa in the TV series Rome.

Early Life and First Steps in Acting
Allen Leech was born in Killiney, a town in County Dublin, Ireland. His father, David, was the CEO of a computer company, and his mother's name is Kay. Allen is the third of four children and has two brothers and a sister.
He first became interested in acting when he was 11 years old. He played the Cowardly Lion in his school's production of The Wizard of Oz. He loved being on stage so much that he decided he wanted to be an actor.
Acting became a very important part of his life as a teenager. When he was 16, he got a small part in a professional play, A Streetcar Named Desire, at the famous Gate Theatre in Dublin. This experience made him even more sure about his dream.
His parents wanted him to get a college degree. So, he studied Drama and Theatre at Trinity College Dublin. While he was in college, he started getting his first major movie roles.

While working on Downton Abbey, Leech also appeared in movies. In 2014, he acted in the award-winning film The Imitation Game. He played John Cairncross, a real-life spy during World War II, alongside actor Benedict Cumberbatch.
In 2018, he played Paul Prenter in the hit movie Bohemian Rhapsody. The movie is about the life of Freddie Mercury, the lead singer of the band Queen. For his work in the film, Leech and the rest of the cast were nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award.

Personal Life
In 2018, Leech announced he was engaged to actress Jessica Blair Herman. They got married on January 5, 2019, in California. Many of his co-stars from Downton Abbey and Bohemian Rhapsody attended the wedding. The couple has two daughters.
