Allensville is a small, unincorporated community located in Richland Township, Vinton County, Ohio, in the United States. An "unincorporated community" means it's a place where people live, but it doesn't have its own local government like a city or a village. Instead, it's usually governed by the county or township.

History of Allensville

Allensville was first established in 1837. It was named after a very important person at the time, William Allen. He was a state legislator, which means he was a person who helped make laws for the state of Ohio. Later, he even became the governor of Ohio!

The community grew, and in 1839, the first post office in Allensville was opened. Post offices were very important back then because they were the main way people sent and received letters and packages, connecting communities across the country.
