Allred, Texas facts for kids
Allred is a small, quiet place in Yoakum County, Texas, in the United States. It's known as an unincorporated community. This means it's a settled area that doesn't have its own local government, like a city or town might. Instead, it's part of the larger county.
History of Allred
Allred was first planned and settled in 1938. It was named after a very important person: James V. Allred. He was the 33rd Governor of Texas. A governor is like the main leader of a state, similar to how a mayor leads a city.
When Allred was first established in 1938, it even had its own post office! This post office helped people send and receive mail. However, the post office eventually closed down in 1957.
