Discovering Almería Cathedral's History
This amazing cathedral was built a long time ago, in the 1500s. It was needed because an earthquake destroyed the old church. Building started in 1524 and finished in 1562. The cathedral mixes two cool styles: Gothic and Renaissance. It also has strong defensive parts, like a fortress. The newest bell was added in 1805.

The Almería Cathedral is a very important historical site. It is officially protected by a special heritage listing in Spain. This means it's recognized as a Bien de Interés Cultural, or a "Property of Cultural Interest." It was given this important status on June 3, 1931.
