Alonso del Arco was a student of Antonio de Pereda, a well-known painter. Alonso became a very skilled artist himself. He was excellent at painting both historical scenes and portraits of people.
Many of his paintings are mentioned by art historians. For example, his works include The Miraculous Conception and The Assumption of the Virgin. These paintings can be found in the cloister of the Trinitarios Descalzos in Madrid.
