The Story of the Prentice House

Alonzo Prentice was born in Lockport, New York in 1828. He worked as a jeweler. He married Harriet Heats in New York.

Alonzo moved to Kalamazoo from New York around the mid-1800s. He later worked for the Michigan Central Railroad.

Prentice had this house built for his family in 1884. Alonzo and Harriet lived here for many years. Harriet passed away in 1902, and Alonzo passed away in 1907. Later, in the 1900s, the house was changed into apartments.

What Does It Look Like?
