His Time as Captain

Ambrose was chosen to be the captain of the Down team in 2010. This is a very important role, as the captain leads the team. In 2010, Down reached the biggest game in Gaelic football, the 2010 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final.

Sadly, Ambrose could not play in this important final. He had a serious knee injury called a cruciate ligament injury. This injury happened during an earlier match against Kerry. Even though he tried special treatments like cryotherapy (using very cold temperatures to help heal), he couldn't recover in time.

He became captain again in 2012, showing how much his team trusted him.

Achievements and Recognition

In 2010, Ambrose was named an Ulster All-Star. This is a special award given to the best players in the Ulster province. He was recognized as one of the top midfield players that year.

Ambrose also took part in the Match for Michaela. This was a special charity game played to honor Michaela McAreavey.
