Amy Joanne Robach (born February 6, 1973) is an American television reporter. She is best known for her work at ABC News, where she was a co-anchor of the show 20/20 and an anchor on Good Morning America.

Before joining ABC, Robach worked for NBC News from 2003 to 2012. At NBC, she was a national correspondent and later became a co-host for the Saturday edition of the Today show.

Robach joined ABC News in 2012. She hosted GMA3: What You Need to Know and became a co-anchor of 20/20 in 2018. She left ABC News in January 2023.

Early Life and Education

Amy Robach was born in St. Joseph, Michigan, and grew up in several places, including East Lansing, Michigan, and St. Louis, Missouri. Her family later moved to Georgia, where she went to high school and college.

Robach graduated from Brookwood High School in Snellville, Georgia. She then attended the University of Georgia, where she studied broadcast journalism and graduated with high honors. In 1995, she competed in the Miss Georgia pageant and was the fourth runner-up.

Career in Television

Her First Jobs

Robach began her television career in 1995 at a station called WCBD-TV in South Carolina. In 1999, she moved to Washington, D.C., to work for the station WTTG.

Joining National News

In 2003, Robach started working for the national news channel MSNBC. She anchored for two hours in the morning and sometimes filled in on other shows. In 2007, she was named the co-anchor of Weekend Today, the weekend version of the popular morning show.

Working at ABC News

Robach moved to ABC News in May 2012. She started as a correspondent for Good Morning America and became the show's main news anchor in 2014. In 2018, she also became a co-anchor for the news show 20/20.

In March 2020, at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Robach began hosting a new show called Pandemic: What You Need to Know. This show later became a permanent program called GMA3: What You Need to Know, with Robach as one of the hosts.

Leaving ABC News

In December 2022, Robach and her GMA3 co-host, T. J. Holmes, were taken off the air after their romantic relationship became public. In January 2023, it was announced that both Robach and Holmes were leaving ABC News.

On December 5, 2023, Robach and Holmes started a podcast together called Amy & T.J. on iHeartRadio.

Personal Life

Family and Relationships

Robach has family members who were involved in the arts. Her aunt and uncle were performing-arts teachers at her high school.

She was married to Tim McIntosh from 1996 to 2008, and they have two daughters.

In 2010, Robach married actor Andrew Shue. They separated in 2022, and their divorce was finalized in March 2023.

Health Journey

In November 2013, Robach shared on Good Morning America that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. The diagnosis came after she had a mammogram on live television for a health segment.

She took time off from work to have surgery. During the surgery, doctors found that the cancer had spread. She went through eight rounds of chemotherapy and other treatments. As of March 2022, she was cancer-free.
