Amy Joanne Robach (born February 6, 1973) is an American television reporter. She is well-known for her work at ABC News. There, she was a co-anchor for 20/20. She also served as a breaking news anchor and fill-in anchor for Good Morning America.
Before joining ABC, Robach worked for NBC News. This was from August 2003 to May 2012. She was a national correspondent for NBC News. Later, she became a co-host of the Saturday edition of NBC's Today. She also anchored shows on MSNBC.
From May 2012 to January 2023, Robach was a key part of ABC News. She contributed to Good Morning America. In March 2020, she began hosting Pandemic: What You Need to Know. This show was created during the COVID-19 Pandemic. It later became GMA3: What You Need to Know. She co-hosted this show until December 2022. Robach also co-anchored 20/20 with David Muir from May 2018 until January 2023. Her time at ABC News ended in early 2023.
Early Life and Education
Amy Robach was born in St. Joseph, Michigan. She spent her early years in East Lansing, Michigan. Later, her family moved to St. Louis, Missouri. They then moved to Georgia.
In Georgia, she attended Brookwood High School in Snellville, Georgia. She then went to the University of Georgia. She graduated with high honors. Her degree was in broadcast journalism. In 1995, she was the fourth runner-up in the Miss Georgia pageant.
Television Career
Robach began her career in television in 1995. Her first job was at WCBD-TV. In 1999, she moved to WTTG in Washington, D.C.
She joined MSNBC in 2003. She spent four years there. During this time, she anchored morning shows. She also filled in on Weekend Today, Countdown with Keith Olbermann, and Morning Joe. In July 2007, she became a co-anchor of Weekend Today. Her last day on Weekend Today was May 19, 2012. She announced she would be moving to ABC News.
At ABC, Robach first appeared as a correspondent for Good Morning America. On March 31, 2014, she became the show's news anchor. In 2018, Robach became a new co-anchor of 20/20.
In March 2020, Robach started hosting Pandemic: What You Need to Know on ABC. This program focused on the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States. It later became GMA3: What You Need to Know. Robach continued as a host. Her role on GMA3 ended in December 2022. On January 27, 2023, her time at ABC News concluded.
On December 5, 2023, Robach launched a podcast. It is called Amy & T.J. and is available on iHeartRadio.
Personal Life
Amy Robach has two daughters. They were born in 2002 and 2006. She was married to Tim McIntosh from 1996 to 2008.
She later married actor Andrew Shue in 2010. They were married on her 37th birthday, February 6, 2010. Their divorce was finalized in March 2023.
Health
On November 11, 2013, Robach shared on Good Morning America that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. As of March 2022, she was cancer-free.
