Anaana’s Tent (Inuktitut: ᐊᓈᓇᐅᑉ ᑐᐱᖕᒐ, Anaanaup Tupinga) is a Canadian TV show made for young children. It was created by Taqqut Productions in 2018. You can watch it in Canada on APTN. The show is available in both Inuktitut and English. It is hosted by Rita Claire Mike-Murphy. Her fun puppet husky, Qimmiq, joins her on adventures.

What is Anaana's Tent About?

Each episode of Anaana's Tent is about 22 minutes long. It mixes different types of fun content. You will see live actors, puppets, and animated parts. These parts include songs, stories, and educational lessons. Every part of an episode focuses on a special theme. This helps kids learn new things in a fun way.

Meet the Main Characters

  • Rita Claire spends her summer at her anaana's (grandma's) tent. She is joined by her husky, Qimmiq. While Anaana is out, Rita Claire plays games and sings songs. She also reads stories and learns new Inuktitut words. Rita Claire's full name is Rita Claire Mike-Murphy. She also sings music as Riit.
  • Qimmiq is Rita Claire's husky dog. He used to be a sled dog. Qimmiq can sometimes be a bit grumpy. But when he is happy, he is very fun and helpful. He helps Rita Claire learn to count, sort, and discover new words.

  • Ukaliq is an energetic Arctic hare. He loves to play and explore the world. Ukaliq can be a little impatient sometimes. He doesn't always think things through. He often goes on adventures with his friend Kalla. Ukaliq helps teach Inuktitut sounds.
  • Kalla is a calm and wise little lemming. He is patient and thoughtful. Kalla is a great friend to Ukaliq. On their adventures, Kalla teaches Ukaliq traditional skills. He also reminds Ukaliq to stay calm. Kalla helps teach Inuktitut sounds too.
  • Uliaq is an animated character. He loves animals very much. Uliaq wants to share all he knows about them. He hosts a part of the show called “Uliaq’s Amazing Animals.” In this part, he teaches viewers about different Arctic animals.
  • Nanuq is a big polar bear. He knows how to be a good friend. Nanuq likes to play hockey and stay active. He often finds creative ways to cheer up his little brother, Nuka. Nanuq and Nuka appear in their own special segments.
  • Nuka is a small polar bear. He might seem grumpy on the outside. But deep down, he loves to have fun with his friends. Nuka is a very determined bear. He never gives up when he wants to do something. He and Nanuq are often together in their segments.
