Andjingith was an Australian Aboriginal language that is now extinct. This means it is no longer spoken by anyone. It was once used by people living in the Cape York area of Queensland, Australia.
The traditional lands where Andjingith was spoken include parts of the Aurukun Community Council and the Cook Shire.
About the Andjingith Language
The Andjingith language was also known by a few other names. These include Anjingid, Andjingid, and Adyingid.
Researchers have studied how different Aboriginal languages are related. One researcher, Norman Tindale, wrote in 1974 that "Winduwinda" was a name used for many smaller language groups. These groups often had names that ended with '-ngit'. This makes some people think that Andjingith might have been one of these Winduwinda groups, even though Tindale did not list it directly.
