Andrea Rothfuss is an amazing German para-alpine skier. She was born on October 20, 1989, in Freudenstadt, which was then in West Germany. Andrea was born without her left hand, but this has not stopped her from becoming a champion skier!

Para-alpine skiing is a sport where athletes with disabilities compete in different skiing events. These events are similar to regular alpine skiing, including downhill, slalom, and giant slalom.

Andrea's Skiing Journey

Andrea Rothfuss started her career in para-alpine skiing in 2004. She quickly became one of the top skiers in the world. She competes in many different events, showing her skill in various types of races.

World Championship Success

Andrea has won many medals at the IPC Alpine Skiing World Championships. These championships bring together the best para-skiers from around the globe.

  • In 2011, she won two gold medals in the downhill and slalom races. She also earned silver in the Super Combined and bronze in the Super-G and giant slalom.
  • She continued to win gold medals in 2017 in both giant slalom and slalom.
  • Overall, she has won 5 gold, 16 silver, and 8 bronze medals at the World Championships!

Paralympic Games Achievements

Andrea has also had incredible success at the Winter Paralympics. These games are the biggest stage for athletes with disabilities.

  • She won her first Paralympic medal, a silver, in 2006 at the Turin Games.
  • At the 2010 Vancouver Games, she won three silver medals and two bronze medals.
  • In 2014, at the Sochi Games, Andrea won her first Paralympic gold medal in the slalom event. She also added two silver medals.
  • The 2018 Pyeongchang Games were very successful for her, where she won four silver medals and one bronze.
  • Most recently, in 2022 at the Beijing Games, she earned a bronze medal in the giant slalom.
  • In total, Andrea has won 1 gold, 9 silver, and 4 bronze medals at the Winter Paralympics!
