Andres Küng (born September 13, 1945 – died December 10, 2002) was a Swedish journalist, writer, and politician. He was also an entrepreneur, which means he started and ran businesses. Andres was born in Ockelbo, Sweden. His family were refugees from Estonia, which was under Soviet control at the time.

Andres Küng spent his life working to help the Baltic States (Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania) become free. He believed strongly that these countries should be independent.

Andres Küng was a very active writer. He wrote over 50 books, mostly about the Baltic States. He also wrote thousands of articles. He gave many talks explaining why Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania should be independent. He was passionate about sharing his ideas and helping people understand the history and future of these nations.

Working in Politics

Andres Küng was involved in politics in two ways. He was active in Swedish politics as a member of the People's Party – Liberals. This is a political group in Sweden.

He also worked with Estonian and Baltic groups outside of their home countries. These groups were made up of people who had left their homelands. They worked to help their countries gain freedom from Soviet control.

Andres Küng received important awards for his hard work and dedication. These awards showed how much his efforts were appreciated.

  • In November 1998, he received the Latvian Order of the Three Stars. This award was given to him by Guntis Ulmanis, who was the President of Latvia.
  • In February 1999, he was given the Estonian Order of the White Star. This award came from Lennart Meri, who was the President of Estonia.
