Andros Island is a group of islands in the Bahamas. It is the largest of the 26 islands where people live in the Bahamas. Andros has many small islands and cays. These are connected by mangrove forests and swampy areas.
There are three main islands: North Andros, Mangrove Cay, and South Andros. The whole island chain is about 104 miles (167 km) long. At its widest point, it is 40 miles (64 km) across.
Andros is known by two fun nicknames in the Bahamas. People call it "The Sleeping Giant" and "The Big Yard."
