General Lacoste's life ended during the Siege of Saragossa in 1809. A "siege" happens when an army surrounds a city or fortress to try and take control of it. The French army was trying to capture the city of Saragossa (now in Spain). This was a very tough and long battle. Sadly, General Lacoste was killed during this fierce fighting.
