André Quitich was born in Manawan, Quebec, Canada. He spent a big part of his life working in education. For 40 years, he worked at Otapi High School. During his time there, he was the General Manager. He also managed the school's administrative services and finances.

Working for His Community

From 2004 to 2007, he served as a Deputy Negotiator. This means he helped represent Indigenous people in important discussions about their land and rights. These discussions are called comprehensive claims.

On August 27, 2013, André Quitich was chosen as the Grand Chief and Chairman of the Atikamekw Nation. This is a very important leadership role for his people. He took over this position from Eve Ottawa.
