Angela V. McKnight was born on March 10, 1977. She is a politician from the Democratic Party in the United States. She currently serves as a State Senator for New Jersey's 31st Legislative District. Before becoming a Senator, she was a member of the New Jersey General Assembly from 2016 to 2024.

Angela McKnight's Work in the General Assembly
Angela McKnight served in the New Jersey General Assembly starting on January 12, 2016. As an Assemblywoman, she worked on many important issues for New Jersey residents.
Why Cursive Writing Matters
In 2019, Angela McKnight introduced a bill about cursive handwriting. This bill would have required students to learn how to read and write cursive by the end of third grade. She believed that cursive is a "vital skill" for children. She pointed out that without cursive skills, students might not be able to read old documents or even sign their names on important papers.
Angela McKnight Becomes a State Senator
After serving in the General Assembly, Angela McKnight decided to run for a seat in the New Jersey Senate. She was nominated for the Senate position when the previous Senator, Sandra Bolden Cunningham, decided not to run again after 16 years.
Winning the Senate Election
In the 2023 New Jersey Senate election, Angela McKnight ran against Republican candidate Luis Soto. She won the election, and officially became a State Senator on January 9, 2024.
