About Angelina Maccarone
Angelina Maccarone was born in Pulheim, Germany, in 1965. Her parents moved to Germany in the 1960s. Before she started making films, Angelina wanted to be a musician. When she was 14, she played the electric guitar and wrote song lyrics. In 1985, she went to the University of Hamburg. There, she studied German and American topics.
Today, Angelina Maccarone lives in Berlin.
Her Film Career
Angelina Maccarone began writing movie scripts in 1992. That same year, she won an award from the Hamburg Department of Culture for a script idea. This was the start of her film career.
In 1995, Maccarone wrote the final script for a movie called Is Mausi Coming Out?
. This was her first time directing a film, and she was nominated for an award called the Telestar award.In 1998, she made another film, Everything Will Be Fine (also known as Alles wird gut). This movie won Audience Awards in many cities, like Los Angeles and Toronto.
In 2005, Maccarone's film Fremde Haut was released. It tells the story of a woman seeking a new life in Germany and exploring her identity. This film won several awards, including the Jury Grand Prize at the International LGBT Festival in Montreal and the Jury Award for Best Narrative Feature at the Seattle L & G Film Festival.
The next year, Maccarone directed Verfolgt, which was made in Hamburg. In 2011, she wrote and directed a documentary called Charlotte Rampling: The Look. This film shares the life story of British actress Charlotte Rampling. It shows her career and thoughts through different conversations. The documentary was shown at the Cannes Film Festival in 2011.
