She continued her studies and earned a special engineering degree in 1991. This degree, called "siv.ing." in Norway, is similar to a Master of Science in engineering. She got this degree from the Norwegian Institute of Technology.
Career as an Engineer
After finishing her studies, Anita Utseth started her engineering career. From 1992 to 2000, she worked as a chief engineer. This was at the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate. This government agency manages Norway's oil and gas resources.
Later, from 2000 to 2003, she became an adviser. She worked at the Norwegian Directorate for Nature Management. This group helps protect Norway's environment. From 2004 to 2005, she was a director at a company called Pertra. Her role was in HMS, which stands for Health, Environment, and Safety.

In 2005, Anita Utseth took on a national role. She was appointed as a State Secretary. This is a high-ranking position in the government. She worked in the Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy.
