Ann McCrary was born Beverly Ann McCrary on August 24, 1950. She was born in Nashville, Tennessee. Her father, Reverend Samuel H. "Sam" McCrary, was a founder of The Fairfield Four. Music was a big part of her life from a young age.
Early Musical Steps
Ann learned a song called "Since I Met Jesus" from Bessie Griffin. This song once helped her and her father earn money at a concert. Ann sang in many church choirs when she was young. She sang in local Baptist, Catholic, and Methodist Mass Choirs.
Starting Her Professional Career
Ann's professional music career began in 1988. She joined a group called The CBS Singers. This group included her family members. Being part of this group helped her get work singing with other gospel musicians. This eventually led to her getting a recording contract.
