Anna Broms (1862–1890) was an important Finnish educator. She was also a pioneer in nursing in Finland. This means she was one of the first people to help start modern nursing there. In 1889, she became the first leader of the first training courses for nurses in Finland.
Her Journey to Nursing
Anna Broms was born in 1862. To learn about nursing, she studied in several countries. She went to Sweden, Scotland, and London. These places had advanced nursing education at the time.
Bringing Modern Nursing to Finland
When Anna Broms returned to Finland in 1888, she was ready to make a big difference. She was chosen to lead a brand new training program for nurses. This program was at the new Surgical Hospital in Helsinki. She helped educate the very first modern Finnish nurses.
