About Anna Freixas
Anna Freixas studied psychology at the University of Barcelona. There, she earned her PhD, which is a very high university degree. Her early teaching career also began at this university. For her PhD, she studied how women see themselves as they get older.
Her Work as a Professor
In 1981, Anna Freixas moved to Andalusia, a region in Spain. She started working at the University of Córdoba. She taught about how people grow and learn, which is called Evolutionary Psychology and Education.
She also started and led a special group called the Women's Studies Classroom from 1994 to 2001. This group later became the Leonor de Guzmán Chair. It focused on studying topics important to women.
What She Studied
Anna Freixas's main research areas included how women age, how boys and girls learn together (coeducation), and feminism. She also looked at how psychology research and teaching could include a gender perspective. This means looking at how things are different for men and women. She is seen as a pioneer for her early work on how women age in Spain.
