Anna Wang started Friends of Children with Special Needs (FCSN) in Fremont, California, in 2006. This organization helps families who have children with special needs. FCSN offers support, resources, and a community where families can feel understood and get help.

How FCSN Began

Anna Wang is married to Albert Wang, and they have three children. Their middle child, Lawrence, was diagnosed with autism when he was very young. Anna realized that in some communities, like Chinese communities, people often don't talk openly about their children having special needs. When she first learned about her son's autism, she wasn't sure what to do.

Over time, Anna found a therapist who could help Lawrence. Other families soon heard about how Anna was caring for her son. This inspired them to reach out. Eventually, five families with children who had autism started meeting together to share their experiences and support each other. These meetings were the very beginning of what would become Friends of Children with Special Needs. FCSN officially opened its doors in 2006, with its main office in Fremont.

Music and Dreams

Anna Wang also founded the Dream Achievers Band. This is a special music group made up of kids with autism. It gives them a chance to express themselves through music and perform together.
