Keeping the Internet Safe
Anne-Marie works as the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at The Internet Foundation in Sweden (IIS). This means she is in charge of keeping the internet safe and secure in Sweden. She makes sure that important internet systems are protected from attacks and problems.
She also helps lead other groups that work with the internet. These include the Council of European National Top Level Domain Registries (CENTR) and the Swedish Law and Informatics Research Institute. These groups help manage how websites work and make sure internet rules are fair.
Protecting the Internet's Core
Anne-Marie was chosen by ICANN (the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) as a "Trusted Community Representative." ICANN is a big organization that helps manage the internet's addresses and names all over the world.
For many years, until 2022, she was one of only seven people in the world who held special "keys" to keep the internet's main address book (called the DNS root zone) safe. This job was super important because it helped protect the internet from big cyberattacks and made sure websites could always be found.
Internet Hall of Fame
In 2013, Anne-Marie Eklund Löwinder became the first person from Sweden to be included in the Internet Hall of Fame. This is a special honor for people who have made huge contributions to the internet.
In 2014, she shared her feelings about the internet, saying, "I have to admit I love the internet. It's a piece of engineering art you have to admire. And to be able to contribute to make this a safer place makes me feel good."
She also helped with the TU-stiftelsen foundation, which runs Netnod. Netnod is a key organization that helps different parts of the internet connect with each other smoothly.
Her Education
Anne-Marie studied computer science at Stockholm University. She earned a degree there, which helped her become the internet expert she is today.
