Annelies Van Parys (born June 5, 1975) is a talented Belgian composer. She writes many different kinds of classical music. This includes music for small groups of instruments (chamber music). She also creates music for big orchestras (symphonic music). Her work also includes music for plays and operas.

About Her Life
Annelies Van Parys was born in Bruges, Belgium. She loved music from a young age. She studied at the Royal Conservatory of Ghent. There, she learned to play the piano. She also learned how to compose music.
Her Early Works
In 2001, Annelies wrote a piece called Phrases V. It was for guitar, harp, piano, and percussion. This music was first played in Bruges. It won the Vlaanderen/Quebec prize.
In 2005, she created Méditation. This piece was for a double wind quintet. It was first performed at a festival in Antwerp. Her first symphony, called "Carillon", came out in 2006. A symphony is a long piece of music for a large orchestra. It was first played in Brussels.
Music for Voice and Theatre
Annelies also writes music for singers. She composed Poème for a solo singer. She also wrote Stanza for a solo harp.
She created music for a theatre show called Ruhe. This show combined her music with older songs. It was performed in many places. These included festivals across Europe and Australia.
Her second symphony, "Les Ponts", was first played in 2008. She continued to write music for theatre. An Index of Memories was for five voices and an orchestra. It was part of a play in 2010.
Another theatre piece was Een Oresteia. This was for three women's voices and an orchestra. It was first shown in Bruges in 2011. Her first opera, Private Views, was performed in 2015. An opera is a play where most of the words are sung.
Teaching Music
Besides composing, Annelies Van Parys also teaches. She has taught composition at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. She also teaches piano at the Conservatory of Bruges. She helps new musicians learn and grow.
Awards and Recognition
Annelies Van Parys has won several awards for her music.
