Anthony Bassano was an Italian musician who lived in the 1500s. He was part of a famous family of musicians.

Anthony was born in a town called Bassano del Grappa in Italy. He was one of six sons of Jeronimo Bassano. In 1540, Anthony and his family moved from Venice, Italy, to England. They went to work for King Henry VIII at his royal court. This meant they played music for the King and his family.

Anthony Bassano had ten children. Five of his sons also became musicians for the English royal court. Their names were Mark Anthony, Arthur, Edward, Andrea, and Jeronimo. One of his daughters, Lucreece Bassano, married Nicholas Lanier the Elder. Nicholas Lanier was the grandfather of a famous artist and musician, also named Nicholas Lanier.

The Bassano family were not just musicians who played instruments. They were also skilled at making musical instruments. They were known for being excellent wind players in the King's band.

Later in his life, around 1607, Anthony Bassano was living in London. He was known as a musician for Queen Elizabeth I, who ruled after Henry VIII. He lived in the St Olave and All Hallows Staining areas of London. All of his ten children were born in England.
