Anthony Duncombe was the son of Alexander Duncombe. His mother was Mary Paulye. She was the daughter of Richard Paulye, who was a local landowner in Whitchurch, Buckinghamshire. Anthony had a very rich brother named Sir Charles Duncombe. Sir Charles was a successful banker.

A Career in Politics

Anthony Duncombe became a Member of Parliament (MP). This meant he was chosen to represent a certain area in the country's government. He represented the town of Hedon. He was first elected in 1698. He served in Parliament until July 1702. He was then elected again in November 1702 and remained an MP until he died in 1708.

Family and Legacy

Anthony Duncombe married Jane Cornwallis. Her father was Frederick Cornwallis. Anthony Duncombe died in April 1708. His son, also named Anthony, became very wealthy. He inherited a large part of his uncle Sir Charles Duncombe's huge fortune. In 1747, his son Anthony was given a special title and became Baron Feversham. Anthony Duncombe also had a sister named Ursula. Her family line eventually led to the people who hold the title of Baron Feversham today.
