The Anthony Massad Three-Decker is a historic house in Worcester, Massachusetts. It is called a "three-decker" because it has three floors, with one apartment on each floor.

This building was constructed around 1912. It is a great example of the Colonial Revival architectural style. This style looks back to older American colonial designs. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1990. This is a special list of important historical buildings in the United States. Some of its original details, like the porch columns, have changed over time.

About the Anthony Massad House

The Anthony Massad Three-Decker is located in the Brittan Square area of Worcester. It stands on the north side of Harlow Street. This building is made of wood and has three stories. It has a hip roof and modern siding on the outside.

The front of the house is not perfectly balanced. It has three porches stacked on the left side. On the right side, there is a window bay shaped like a polygon. Square posts support the porches. Another angled window bay sticks out from one side of the house. When it was first built, the porch openings were arched. They had special columns called Tuscan columns.

History of the Building

The house was built around 1912. At that time, the Brittan Square area was growing quickly. It was becoming a popular "streetcar suburb." This means it was a neighborhood that grew along a streetcar line. People could live there and easily travel to downtown.

Many early residents in this area worked skilled jobs downtown. These jobs included both office work and manual labor. Anthony Massad was the first owner of this building. He owned a hotel called the Exchange Hotel. Some of the first people who rented apartments here had interesting jobs. They included a railroad brakeman and a police officer.
