About Antoni Vila Casas
Antoni Vila Casas was born in Spain. He went to Jesuites school in 1948. Later, he studied pharmacy at the Universitat de Barcelona and finished his studies in 1956. This education helped him understand how medicines are made.
Starting a Business
In 1960, Antoni Vila Casas started his own company called Laboratorios Prodes S.A. He was the main leader of this company. Over the years, he bought other laboratories. By 1986, he had created a bigger group of companies called Prodesfarma Holding.
Helping Art and Health
At the same time, Antoni Vila Casas also started something very special: the Fundació Vila Casas. A "foundation" is a group that uses money to help good causes. He was the president of this foundation. Its main goals were to support Catalan art and to give awards. These awards helped new projects in both health and art.
Later, in 1995, he bought another company called Aquilea Laboratories. In 1997, he sold his Prodesfarma company to a larger group called Grupo Almirall.
