From 1818 to 1821, Antonio Brugada studied art. He attended the School of Fine Arts of San Fernando in Madrid. This was a very important art school in Spain.
Moving to France
Between 1820 and 1823, Brugada was part of a group called the National Military of Madrid. In 1823, he moved to France. He settled in a city called Bordeaux.
Meeting Francisco Goya
While in Bordeaux, Antonio Brugada met another famous Spanish painter. This artist was Francisco Goya. Goya was much older and very respected.
Brugada helped Goya with some of his artworks. He helped to identify figures in Goya's famous "Black Paintings" series. These paintings were created around 1823.
