Antwone Quenton Fisher (born August 3, 1959) is an American director, writer, and film producer. He is known for sharing his life story. His book, Finding Fish, became a New York Times Best Seller. The movie Antwone Fisher (2002) tells his story. Fisher wrote the film, and Denzel Washington directed it.

Early Life and Challenges
Antwone Fisher was born in prison. His mother was 17 years old. His father had passed away before Antwone was born. Antwone was placed in foster care when he was just a few weeks old. He lived in different foster homes during his childhood. For 14 years, he lived with Rev. Ulysses and Isabella Pickett. Later, Antwone went to George Junior Republic School, a special school for boys. He graduated from there before joining the United States Navy.
Antwone's Career Journey
Fisher joined the U.S. Navy to find a stable home. He served in the Navy for 12 years. During this time, he met a psychiatrist, Lt. Commander Williams. This person helped Antwone deal with his past emotional challenges. After leaving the Navy in 1989, Fisher worked as a federal correctional officer.
Becoming a Writer and Filmmaker
After three years, Antwone started working as a security guard. This job was at Sony Pictures. While working there, Fisher decided to find his birth family. He connected with his aunt, Annette Elkins. Soon after, he met his entire family, including his mother, Eva Mae. He learned that his mother had other children who were also placed in foster care. Fisher wrote that after meeting his family, the hurt he felt from being abandoned was replaced by understanding.
Fisher then wrote a screenplay about his life. Many people in Hollywood were interested in his story. He worked on over 40 drafts of his script. Eventually, he sold the rights to his story to 20th Century Fox. The movie Antwone Fisher was directed by Denzel Washington. Derek Luke played Antwone in the film. Fisher was both the writer and a co-producer for the movie.
Today, Antwone Fisher continues to work as a director, author, poet, and producer. He also gives lectures and teaches at colleges. His book, A Boy Should Know How to Tie a Tie: And Other Lessons for Succeeding in Life, was published in 2010. He has also directed other films, like This Life of Mine: The Story of Leon T. Garr. He also helped write the 2006 drama ATL.
Personal Life
Antwone Fisher married LaNette Canister on December 1, 1996. They have two children named Azure and Indigo.
