Clemerson de Araújo Soares, known as Araújo, is a Brazilian former professional footballer. He was born on August 8, 1977. Araújo played as a forward, which means he was a player whose main job was to score goals. He is famous for his time playing in Japan and Qatar.

Playing Career

Araújo was born in Caruaru, Brazil. He started his football journey there. He played for a Japanese team called Gamba Osaka in 2005. That year, he scored 33 goals in the league. His amazing goal-scoring helped Gamba Osaka win the J1 League title in 2005.

After his successful time in Japan, Araújo went back to Brazil. He signed with a club called Cruzeiro. Two years later, Araújo moved to Qatar. There, he became the top scorer in the league during the 2007–08 season.

Time with Al-Gharafa

Araújo played for Al-Gharafa, a team known as Al Fuhud (The Cheetahs). This club was very strong and won the championship in Qatar three years in a row. Araújo was a key player in their success. He was the top scorer for the entire 2008 season.

On March 4, 2008, he scored a goal against Al Khor. This goal helped him match a record of 25 goals in one season. He finished that season as the league's top scorer with 27 goals. This record was later broken in 2018. While at Al-Gharafa, he played alongside another famous Brazilian player, Juninho Pernambucano. Araújo left the club in 2010.
