Arbor, Missouri facts for kids
Arbor is a small place in Cape Girardeau County, Missouri, in the United States. It's called an "unincorporated community," which means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government.
A Look Back at Arbor's History
Arbor had a post office that opened in 1884. A post office is where people send and receive mail. This post office stayed open for many years, until 1928.
People think Arbor got its name from a "brush arbor." A brush arbor was like a simple shelter made from tree branches and leaves. It was often used for outdoor meetings or church services. This brush arbor was probably near where the community first started.
In 1925, Arbor was home to 83 people. It was a small but active community back then.
