History of Architects' Journal
The magazine started way back in 1895. Its first name was The Builder's Journal and Architectural Record. Over the years, its name changed a few times.
Name Changes Over Time
- From 1906 to 1910, it was called The Builder's Journal and Architectural Engineer.
- From 1911 to 1919, it became The Architects and Builder's Journal.
- In 1919, it finally became The Architects' Journal, which is its name today.
Moving to Digital and New Owners
In 2015, the company that owned the magazine, Top Right Group, decided to stop printing paper copies. They planned for all their magazines, including Architects' Journal, to become digital-only.
Later that year, Top Right Group changed its name to Ascential. In 2017, Ascential decided to sell Architects' Journal and 12 other magazines. These magazines were bought by Metropolis International in June 2017.
Print and Online Editions
Even though there was a plan to go fully digital, Architects' Journal is still printed. It comes out 24 times a year. Its online version provides daily news about architecture.
Awards and Recognition
In 2018, Architects' Journal won a big award. It was named the PPA Business Magazine of the Year. This shows it's a top magazine in its field.
Circulation Numbers
In June 2015, about 6,817 copies of the magazine were distributed. This number shows how many people received the magazine.
