Arleta Richardson (born in Flint, Michigan, on March 9, 1923 – died July 25, 2004) was an American author who wrote books for children and about religion. She was also a librarian and a teacher. Her most famous books are the Grandma's Attic series. She was a member of the Free Methodist Church.

Her Life Story

Arleta Richardson grew up in different parts of the midwest United States. She served in the army during World War II. In 1944, she finished her studies at Spring Arbor Junior College. After that, she served in the army for more than a year. She later graduated from Western Michigan University in 1949.

Arleta worked as a teacher and a librarian at several schools. These included Spring Arbor Junior College and Los Angeles Pacific College. In 1974, her first book in the popular Grandma's Attic series was published. Later, in 1994, she started another series called Orphans' Journey. She also wrote eight books for a missions program called CYC. For nine years, she was the Director of Missions Education for the Women's Missionary Society. Arleta Richardson passed away from cancer when she was 81 years old.
