Armin Hofmann (born June 29, 1920 – died December 18, 2020) was a famous graphic designer from Switzerland. He was also a very important teacher who helped shape how graphic design is taught around the world.

Who Was Armin Hofmann?

Starting His Journey

Armin Hofmann began teaching in 1947 at the Basel School of Art and Crafts. He was only 26 years old. Later, he became the head of the graphic design department at the Basel School of Design.

Developing the Swiss Style

Hofmann played a big part in creating a design style called the Swiss Style. This style is known for being very clear and simple. It uses clean lines, easy-to-read fonts, and often a limited number of colors. It focuses on making information easy to understand.

His Teaching Ideas
