Arp, Tennessee facts for kids
Arp is a small place in Lauderdale County, Tennessee, in the United States. It's what we call an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government. Arp is found along Tennessee State Route 19, about five miles northwest of a larger town called Ripley.
A Look at Arp's Past
Arp once had its own post office. This post office opened in 1899. It helped people send and receive mail in the area. However, it closed down just a few years later, in 1907.
People believe Arp was named after a famous person. This person was Bill Arp, whose real name was Charles Henry Smith. He was a popular writer and speaker in the late 1800s. Bill Arp was known for his funny stories and observations, making him a "humorist."
