The Story of Ash
Ash got its start a long time ago. In 1884, a post office was opened there. A post office was super important back then! It was the main way people sent and received letters and packages.
The community was named after William P. Ash. He was an early postmaster, which means he was in charge of the post office. He gave the community his last name. The post office stayed open for about 20 years, closing in 1904.
In 1925, Ash was a very small place. Only 36 people lived there at that time.
