Ashton Bryan Jones (1896–1979) was an American Quaker minister. Quakers are a religious group known for their peaceful beliefs. From the 1930s to the 1970s, Ashton Jones worked hard to promote "human brotherhood." This means he believed all people should be treated equally and kindly. He was very active during the Civil Rights Movement, a time when many people fought for equal rights for all.

Jones was arrested many times in the southern United States. He was arrested for speaking out about equality for everyone. He was also a close friend of the famous civil rights leader, Martin Luther King Jr..

Ashton Jones was a pastor who helped many people. He often moved to new places to share his message of peace and equality. He traveled an incredible 750,000 miles across the country! He did this in his special "World Brotherhood" car. Jones built and decorated this car himself to spread his message of peace and fairness.

Even though he traveled so much, Jones faced many challenges. He spoke up for equal rights for African Americans and lived among them. Because of this, he often faced unfair treatment and dangers. People sometimes chased him out of towns because they disagreed with his message.

Jones was a strong supporter of the Civil Rights Movement. This led to many difficulties for him. He was arrested about 40 times for taking part in civil rights actions. He bravely stood up for what he believed was right, even when it was difficult.

In 1967, Jones made a public statement. He decided not to pay his income taxes. He did this to protest against the United States' involvement in the Vietnam War. This was another way he showed his commitment to peace.
