Astrid Lindgren's World (Swedish: Astrid Lindgrens värld) is a special theme park located in Vimmerby, Sweden. This is the hometown of the famous author Astrid Lindgren. The park brings her beloved stories and characters to life. It lets visitors step right into the magical worlds she created.

Welcome to Astrid Lindgren's World!

What is Astrid Lindgren's World?

This amazing park first opened in 1981. It was originally called "Sagobyn," which means "Fairytale Village." In the beginning, they built Katthult, the first house, on a 1:3 scale. This means it was one-third the size of a real house. Over the years, many more places from Astrid Lindgren's books were added. All of them are built to this special 1:3 scale.

The park covers a huge area of 180,000 square metres. Here, visitors can meet all the much-loved characters from Astrid Lindgren's books.

Step Inside Your Favorite Stories

All the places in the park are built exactly as they are described in the books. This lets young visitors really enter the stories. You can explore the world of Pippi Longstocking at Villa Villekulla. You can visit Emil i Lönneberga's home in Katthult. You can also find Karlsson-on-the-Roof and many other characters. It's like walking into the pages of a book!

Fun All Summer Long!

Astrid Lindgren's World is open during the summer, usually from May to August. During the summer season, exciting events happen all day long. There are shows on stage and fun, unplanned performances all around the park. A small stage near the entrance and the main stage host daily shows. These shows feature special scenes with music, singing, and dancing. You can even see Pippi performing at her home, Villa Villekulla!

More Than Just a Park

Meeting the characters and exploring their homes is a big part of the fun. But Astrid Lindgren's World offers even more! You can find many different places to stay if you want to visit for a few days. There are also lots of spots for picnics. If you prefer, you can enjoy a meal at a coffeehouse or one of the park's restaurants.
