Athina Oikonomakou (in Greek: Αθηνά Οικονομάκου; born March 6, 1986) is a popular Greek actress, businesswoman, and model. She became very famous for her leading role in the TV show The life of the other woman from 2009 to 2012.

She also starred in other successful TV shows like Stolen Dreams, The ring of fire, and On my shoes.

Besides acting, Athina started her own jewelry brand called Allover by Athina Oikonomakou in 2016. In 2019, she launched a fashion company named Project Soma.

Early Life and Education

Athina Oikonomakou was born in Skala, Laconia, a town in Greece. Her father, Dionysis, worked in the navy, and her mother, Georgia, was a housewife. She has an older brother named Nikitas.

When she turned 18, Athina moved to Athens to study at the Agricultural University of Athens. However, she soon discovered her passion for acting.

Acting Career

Starting Out in Acting (2005-2008)

In 2005, during her second year of university, Athina decided to follow her dream of becoming an actress. She joined the acting school "Stage by Mimí Deníssi" and graduated in 2007.

Her first TV role was in the series Deligiannis Girls' School, where she played a student in the 1930s. In 2008, she appeared in her first movie, a short film called An Angel's Bet. She also had her first leading role on TV in the comedy series The Fearless.

Becoming a TV Star (2009-2016)

In 2009, Athina landed the main role of Xenia Pappa in the popular TV drama The life of the other woman. This role made her a household name in Greece. The show was a huge hit and ran for three seasons until 2012.

Getting the part was not easy. The director made her audition about 30 times because the TV channel was not sure about hiring a new, young actress for such a big role. But the director believed in her, and she proved she could do it.

After that, she starred in another successful show, Stolen Dreams, from 2011 to 2014. She then played a leading role in the drama The Ring of Fire from 2014 to 2015. In 2015, she also starred in the Greek version of the comedy The Worst Week of My Life.

Recent Work and TV Appearances (2016-Present)

From 2016 to 2021, Athina played a main character in the comedy series On my shoes. She took two breaks from the show for the births of her children but was a key part of the series for several seasons.

She has also appeared on TV as herself. In 2019, she co-hosted a talk show for an episode. In 2020, she was a guest on Greece's Next Top Model. In 2022, she was a judge on the first season of The Masked Singer in Greece.

In 2023, she returned to acting in the drama series The First of Us. Since 2024, she has been starring in the family comedy I Have Children.

Stage and Film Career

Athina has also performed in many plays. Her first play was "The Flower of Levante" in 2008. She has toured around Greece with plays like "The Baptisms". She has said she is taking a break from theater to focus on her family.

In movies, she has starred in four films: An Angel's Bet (2008), A Night in Athens (2013), Amore mio (2015), and Magic Mirror (2016).

Business Ventures

Athina is also a successful entrepreneur.

In 2016, she launched her own brand of handmade jewelry called Allover by Athina Oikonomakou. The first store opened in Athens in 2019.

In 2019, she teamed up with Maria Synatsaki to create a clothing line called Project S.O.M.A. Their clothes are sold online.

Personal Life

Athina started dating businessman Philipos Michopoulos in 2013. They married in 2017. They have two children: a son named Maximos-Spyridon (born in 2018) and a daughter named Sienna-Electra (born in 2021). The couple announced their divorce in 2024.

Since 2024, Athina has been in a relationship with basketball player Bruno Cerella.
