Attica Woodson Scott (born January 30, 1972) is an American politician. She served in the Kentucky House of Representatives for the 41st district from 2017 to 2023. She was also a member of the Louisville Metro Council.

Early Life and Education
Attica Scott was born in Louisville, Kentucky. She went to duPont Manual High School. She studied political science at Knoxville College. Later, she earned a master's degree in communications from the University of Tennessee.
Her Career in Public Service
Working for the Community
Before becoming a politician, Attica Scott was a community organizer for 15 years. This means she helped bring people together to solve problems in their neighborhoods. She worked with a group called Kentucky Jobs with Justice. She focused on helping migrant workers, improving health care, and fighting for fairness for all people.
Serving on the Louisville Metro Council
In 2011, Attica Scott was chosen to join the Louisville Metro Council. This council helps make decisions for the city of Louisville. She replaced another member who had to leave. In 2012, she won a special election to keep her seat. However, she did not win her re-election in 2014.
Representing Kentucky in the State House
In 2016, Attica Scott ran for a seat in the Kentucky House of Representatives. This is where state laws are made. She won the election and became the first African American woman to serve in the Kentucky General Assembly since the year 2000.
While in the Kentucky House, she worked on several important issues. She was part of committees that dealt with elections, laws, and education. In 2020, she supported a bill to improve health care for new mothers. She also worked on a bill to remove taxes from baby products like diapers and wipes. This would make these items more affordable for families.
Running for the U.S. House
In 2021, Attica Scott announced she would run for the United States House of Representatives. This is a national role, where politicians make laws for the whole country. She ran for Kentucky's 3rd congressional district.
Speaking Out for Justice
In 2020, Attica Scott joined many people in Louisville who were protesting for justice. These protests were related to the case of Breonna Taylor. Scott marched with other people to speak up for what she believed was right.
During these protests, she shared concerns about how police were handling the situation. She said that she and her daughter, along with others, were affected by police actions. She also spoke about her concerns regarding the city's leaders and how they were addressing issues of fairness.
In September 2020, Attica Scott was arrested during a protest. She spent a night in jail. She was accused of certain actions, but these accusations were later dropped. In 2021, she filed a lawsuit against the Louisville Metro Police Department. She said her rights were not respected during her arrest and that it caused her emotional distress.
Personal Life
Attica Scott is a single mother. She has two children. One of her children was with her during a protest in 2020 and was also cleared of any accusations.
