Aucasaurus

Aucasaurus was a medium-sized theropod dinosaur that lived in Argentina. It roamed the Earth during the Upper Cretaceous period, about 83 million years ago. This dinosaur was a relative of the famous Carnotaurus, but it was quite a bit smaller. One of its most interesting features was its super short arms! Scientists have found the most complete skeleton of an abelisaurid dinosaur belonging to Aucasaurus. However, its skull was damaged, which makes some scientists wonder if it was in a fight right before it died.

Aucasaurus in Movies and Shows

Aucasaurus got its moment in the spotlight! This dinosaur was shown in the Discovery Channel series Dinosaur Planet. In the show, Aucasaurus was depicted as a hunter that worked in a group. It was shown eating the large plant-eating dinosaur called Saltasaurus. The show suggested that the head injury found on the real Aucasaurus skeleton might have happened when a Saltasaurus stumbled and crushed its head.
