Audrey C. Delsanti facts for kids
Audrey Delsanti (born on August 27, 1976) is a French astronomer. An astronomer is a scientist who studies stars, planets, and other objects in space. Audrey Delsanti works at the European Southern Observatory's (ESO) La Silla Observatory, which is located in Chile.
She is known for discovering minor planets. Minor planets are small objects that orbit the Sun, but they are much smaller than regular planets.
Discovering Minor Planets
The Minor Planet Center, which keeps track of all minor planets, credits Audrey Delsanti with finding two of these objects. One of the objects she helped discover is called (40314) 1999 KR16. She found this object in 1999. She also discovered another minor planet, (123509) 2000 WK183, in 2000.
Studying Space
In 2004, Audrey Delsanti received a special award called a NASA Postdoctoral Fellowship. This fellowship allowed her to continue her research at the Institute for Astronomy at the University of Hawaii in Honolulu. She studied astrobiology, which is a field that looks for life beyond Earth and studies how life might begin and develop in the universe.
