Augusta Huiell Seaman (born April 3, 1879 – died June 5, 1950) was an American writer. She is famous for her many mystery books for kids.

Augusta Huiell Seaman was born in New York City on April 3, 1879. Her birth name was Augusta Curtiss Huiell. Her father was John Valentine Huiell, a bookkeeper. Her mother, Anna Curtiss, passed away when Augusta was nine years old.

She went to Normal College in New York City. This school is now known as Hunter College. Augusta graduated in 1900 and became an elementary school teacher. In 1906, she married Robert Seaman. After getting married, she decided to focus on writing books for children.

Augusta and Robert had one child, a daughter named Helen Roberta. She was born in 1915. Robert Seaman passed away in 1927. The next year, in 1928, Augusta married her second husband. His name was Francis Parkman Freeman. He worked as a foreman at the Phipps estate in Island Beach, New Jersey. This area is now part of Berkeley Township. Many of Augusta's later books were set in this very place. While living in Island Beach, Augusta also helped with local government. She worked as the Borough clerk, Tax Collector, and Borough Registrar.

Augusta Huiell Seaman wrote many popular books. Most of them were mysteries for young readers. Some of her books have been printed again. However, many are hard to find today. Collectors especially look for her rarest books. Her stories were so popular that some were translated. People in Norway, Denmark, and France could read them in their own languages.
