Early Life and Royal Service
When Augustus was about 16 years old, he moved to Hanover. But he returned to England in 1714. This was when George I became the new King of England.
Augustus Schutz then worked for King George II for many years. He served the King from 1727 to 1757. He had two important jobs:
- Master of the Robes: This role meant he helped manage the King's clothes and personal items.
- Keeper of the Privy Purse: In this job, he was in charge of the King's personal money and expenses.
Family Life at Shotover House
Augustus Schutz married a woman named Penelope Madan. They lived in a large home called Shotover House in Oxfordshire, England. He took over the house from Lt-Gen. James Tyrell.
