About Aurora Luque: Her Life Story

Aurora Luque was born in Almería, Spain, in 1962. She studied Classical Philology at the University of Granada. This means she learned a lot about ancient Greek and Roman languages and cultures. Since 1988, she has been a professor of Ancient Greek in Málaga. She has spent most of her career teaching there. From 1999 to 2008, she also wrote articles for the newspaper Diario Sur. These articles were like opinion pieces or stories she wrote regularly.

In 2008, Aurora Luque received the Meridiana Award. This award was given by the Andalusian Women's Institute. She earned it for her important work in finding and sharing the writings of forgotten female authors. In October 2008, she became the director of the Generation of '27 Cultural Center. This center is part of the Provincial Deputation of Málaga, which is like a local government. She held this job until June 2011.

In 2012, Aurora Luque had a special stay at Villa Marguerite Yourcenar in Belgium. This program helps European writers focus on their work. She has traveled to many countries for poetry events. She has visited places in North and South America, Europe, Africa, and Asia. She has also given talks at several universities in the United States.

Aurora Luque started and led a poetry collection called "Cuadernos de Trinacria." One book from this collection won a national award for best translation in 2005. Starting in 2000, she also helped lead another poetry collection called "maRemoto." This collection featured poetry from different cultures. In 2005, she even started her own publishing company called Narila. She has also been part of important groups that help guide book publishing and research at the University of Málaga.
