Early Film Roles
Avinesh Rekhi started his acting journey in movies. He had a small part in the 2008 film Ru Ba Ru. In 2009, he appeared in Dil Bole Hadippa!, but these early roles did not make him famous.
First Steps in Television
Rekhi's first TV show was the suspense thriller Chhal — Sheh Aur Maat on Colors TV in 2012. He played the main character, Kabir Jaiswal, in this series.
In 2013, he took on the role of Sultan Kundra, a villain, in another Colors TV show called Madhubala – Ek Ishq Ek Junoon. From 2013 to 2014, he played Neeraj Sachdeva in the psychological thriller Main Naa Bhoolungi.
In 2015, Rekhi got the part of the Mughal emperor Akbar in the historical drama Bharat Ka Veer Putra – Maharana Pratap on Sony Entertainment Television. He also had a guest role in an episode of Darr Sabko Lagta Hai in 2016.
Major TV Successes
Avinesh Rekhi's big break came with the Star Plus show Tu Sooraj Main Saanjh, Piyaji, which started in April 2017. In this show, he played the main character, Uma Shankar Toshniwal, alongside actress Rhea Sharma.
From July 2019 to July 2021, Rekhi starred as Sarabjit Singh Gill in Choti Sarrdaarni on Colors TV. He acted alongside Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia in this popular series.
