Awista Ayub (born around 1979) is an amazing writer from Afghanistan. She is also famous for starting a special program called the Afghan Youth Sports Exchange in the United States. This program helps young people, especially girls, get involved in sports.

Awista Ayub's Story

A Book About Dreams

Awista Ayub wrote an inspiring book called Kabul Girls Soccer Club. It was first named However Tall the Mountain. This book tells a wonderful story. It's about eight brave girls who traveled to the United States. They went there to learn how to play soccer.

Growing the Game

The Afghan Youth Sports Exchange started with those first eight young women. But it didn't stop there! The program has grown a lot. Now, hundreds of young people compete in sports. They do this through the Afghanistan Football Federation. This shows how much impact Awista's idea has had.

A Leader for Peace

Today, Awista Ayub works as a Regional Director. She works for an international group called "Seeds of Peace". This organization helps young people become leaders. She lives in a city called Mumbai.

Her job at Seeds of Peace is very important. She chooses young adults from India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. These teenagers are selected to become future leaders. They then travel to Maine, USA, for a special summer camp.
