Understanding Broadway Line Services
The Broadway Line is used by four different subway services. These services are like different bus routes that all share the same main road. About 748,900 people ride these trains daily!
The N Train: Broadway Express
The N train is known as the Broadway Express. This means it makes fewer stops in certain areas to help people travel faster. Currently, it runs from Ditmars Boulevard in Queens to 86th Street. There is some flood work happening between Coney Island and 86th Street, which affects its full route.
The Q Train: Another Broadway Express
The Q train is also a Broadway Express service. It travels a long distance, connecting 96th Street-2nd Avenue to Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue. This train runs at all times, day and night, making it very useful for many riders.
The R Train: A Local Service
The R train is a local service. This means it stops at every station along its route. It operates from 71st Avenue to 95th Street. However, late at night, its route is shorter, running only from Whitehall Street-South Ferry.
The W Train: Weekday Local Service
The W train is another local service. It connects Astoria-Ditmars Boulevard in Queens to Whitehall Street-South Ferry in Manhattan. The W train runs only on weekdays. You can catch it from 6:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. on weekdays.
