BSA Bantam facts for kids
The BSA Bantam was a popular small motorcycle. It was built by a British company called the BSA. These bikes were made for many years, from 1949 until 1972.
The Bantam used a special type of engine called a two-stroke engine. This made it lightweight and easy to handle.
How the Bantam Started
The idea for the BSA Bantam actually came from a German motorcycle. This was the DKW RT 125, designed before World War II. After the war, the design was shared with other countries.
BSA then used this design to create their own version, the Bantam. It quickly became a favorite for many riders.
Different Bantam Models
Over the years, BSA made many different versions of the Bantam. There were more than eight main models. These ranged from the very first D1 model to the later B175.
The engines in these bikes also varied in size. Some had smaller 125cc engines. Others had slightly larger 175cc engines. This meant there was a Bantam for different needs and riders.
